Yeah Modern Family is awesome. Ty Burrell is the funniest new sitcom actor since Steve Carrell in The Office (whose Michael Scott he closely resembles without seeming like an outright ripoff). STILL though, I wish they'd cut the confessional stuff. That way it'd be more Arrested Development and less Office.

I'm still watching Modern Family and loving it. There were a couple of uneven episodes earlier in the season, but the last few have been pretty good IMO, especially the one with Ed Norton. That anniversary thread was like a snapshot right out of my own marriage. But in reverse, of course.

I feel like Glee refuses to let me love it. Every time I think I've finally bought in completely, two seconds later, Finn is singing to the sonogram on his goddamn laptop. I think they need to give this show a strong push in one direction or the other--either fully embrace the wacky, over-the-top-ness of it all, or get more serious with it. Right now, the show is at constant odds with itself. And while we're at it, howzabout making the show 30 minutes long so it doesn't fold up under its own weight every week?

(anyone watching The Modern Family?)

Scott, I was pretty pleased to hear the opening notes to "Svefn-G-Englar" and I think it worked pretty well for the bliss scene, but I just can't disassociate it from Vanilla Sky in my mind.

As for the show itself, I'm right there with you. I like all the leads, especially what Scott Wolf's doing in his role. I'm still holding out for greater things to come. I'd really like to see it go off the reservation and do really bold stuff (I can't help but think of BSG and the places it went).

Oh Robert, I meant to ask what you thought of the Sigur Ros song at the end of V. I just like hearing that song all the time, but I've maybe heard it TOO much in movies/TV (Vanilla Sky, CSI, 11th Hour just off the top of my head).

I am still onboard because I think Morena Baccarin is awesome in it and love Elizabeth Mitchell as the hero, but it needs some work. The network knows it, too. Haven't they replaced the showrunner, like, 18 times in 4 episodes?

I am SO SICK of new songs for sectionals. I know they need songs each week, but dang, isn't there a better way to do it.

Frankly, what's really getting at me is the problems with race, gender, and disability that the show has. I get it. It's "ironic". But it's mostly just poorly done, at best, and offensive at worse. Come on show. Be better than this!

The seams have started showing on Glee for me, too, but I still think it's one of the brightest, freshest, funniest shows in years. I think the real problem is that Ryan Murphy's off filming Eat, Pray, Love and all three writers are on a different page. They've gotta get together and decide what the arc of the season, if not the show, is and all work toward that end instead of having Will bust in with sheet music going "GUYS I KNOW THE PERFECT SONG FOR SECTIONALS" every single episode.
