Armando,

I bag on Dexter, but I do enjoy it. However, you were spot-on about the extra characters and, as I highlight above, it really does take away from the show.

Dexter -- I've never been a fan of Dexter. I watched some of the first season and I thought the layered character of Dexter was/is surrounded by one dimensional cut outs. I gave up on it. Maybe I am wrong, but I never went back to check.

Modern Family -- a winner in my book. But that's because I almost always fall for anything that shows the dysfunction in families. Being that my family is pretty dysfunctional in terms of parents being married multiple times, etc. I find comfort in the humor that is being put on display in Modern Family. I also love the way each section of the family has it's focus.

Glee -- You know what? When I first heard of this show and began to see the hype behind it, I was like huh? But I gave in finally to the hype last week. Watched the first three on Hulu and right after, set the dvr for a season pass. It's hands down my favorite new show of the season. (Modern Family a close 2nd)Yes it can be a bit over the top. Yes the lead female character (whose name escapes me right now) is played at an almost iCarly/Grease type level of cheesiness but hot damn if I don't love the passion the characters give off for Glee and just the total embracement of knowing who they are and loving it. The singing, the Cheerios Coach (who is always funny in anything she does), the Principal, the way too clean love triangle teacher, the wife, all the characters, I love. It reminds me of Parker Lewis Can't Lose in a way, except a little more fleshed out.

Flash Forward -- I;ve seen the pilot. DVR set for series recording. I thought the first episode was intriguing but really, like Scott said, where can they go with this? It would have to be a mind blowing, pretty much game changing, extraordinary reason or it's going to be so lame. And I just don't think they can deliver something we haven't already seen a million times already. And I heard the creators had five seasons of this layed out already? Wow.

The Office -- The original UK Office is my favorite comedy of all time. I love the US version but I am not head over heals for it. I have all of this season's episodes on my dvr. I did watch the season opener and I loved it when Andy jumped into the dumpster. Funny shit. I guess I will go and ahead and watch them so I can the Jim and Pam wedding.

Oh, Robert, I still recommend Dexter. I tore through it this summer and it can be an immensely enjoyable show. It just has a huge drop in quality whenever Michael C. Hall isn't on screen.

That's a shame about Dexter. I saw some of the first season when CBS decided to air episodes in the wake of the writer strike last year and thought it was pretty good.

Also, Scott, how much of FlashForward did you watch? The world isn't going to end before the first season ends (or I don't remember anything that led us to believe that) and even though I have some trouble with investing in another serial format show, I don't think it's fair to compare this to the garbage that is Heroes. That's just mean. :)
