Hold on to your butts—two of Universal’s biggest film franchises from the ’80s and ’90s are coming to gamers this winter as Telltale Games, makers of fine adventure games like the Sam & Max series and Tales of Monkey Island, announced today that they’ll be working on new games based on Back to the Future and Jurassic Park.
With a combined tally of over $3 billion dollars in box office sales, both franchises have seen past iterations on different platforms, but with the creative force of Telltale at the wheel, we’re hoping these new episodic games will give these blockbuster titles a nice kick in the pants. While another Jurassic Park game is mildly intriguing, a new line of Back to the Future games is a truly exciting proposition, especially since the last time fans saw Doc and Marty in a game was during the days of the NES and Sega Genesis.
Fortunately, the gaming landscape has changed drastically since the early ’90s, and since Telltale now has years of experience with building episode-based games and digital distribution, we can only hope these new titles will hit all major platforms, including gaming consoles, PCs and maybe even mobile devices like the iPhone/iPad.
How about you? Are you looking forward to more adventures with DeLoreans and dinosaurs?
