Life imitates art imitates life. That’s always a tricky situation but it looks like the city of St. Paul, Minnesota is going to get a special treat inspired by Michael Mann’s upcoming Public Enemies about the life of 1930s bank robber extraordinaire John Dillinger.
A re-enactment of the trial of Dillinger’s girlfriend Evelyn Frechette entitled Dillinger’s Moll: The Trial of Evelyn ‘Billie’ Frechette will be put on by the West LegalEdcenter on July 14. The two-hour event, beginning at 7 p.m. Central, will take place in the F. K. Weyerhaeuser Auditorium inside Landmark Center and while it seems like something for the attorney crowd more than general moviegoing audiences, it’s interesting that Mann’s new film is bringing the spotlight back to one of this country’s most notorious criminals.
