Prince Discusses Epilepsy
The Purple One talks with Tavis Smiley about his condition and draws commendations from fans, epilepsy group

For many, it might not be truly world-shattering news, but in an appearance on Tavis Smiley’s show yesterday, pop/rock music legend Prince revealed he has epilepsy and discussed for the first time his childhood experience dealing with the neurological condition. It was, more than anything else, a surprising insight into the persona of the historically recluse performer and a moment of candor that struck a chord with millions who live with the epilepsy everyday.
Greg Grunberg (Heroes), serving as spokesman for The Epilepsy Foundation, commented on Prince’s revelation, “I can’t thank Prince enough for sharing his personal story. My son had such a smile this morning when I told him that Prince had epilepsy and has gone on to live his dream of making music and changing lives.” With its new site talkaboutit.org, The Epilepsy Foundation is encouraging celebrities and entertainers to come forward to dispel the myths about epilepsy.
