With the mega-success of Batman Begins and The Dark Knight under his belt, director Christopher Nolan is undoubtedly a filmmaker to watch these days. Today, Warner Bros. announced that Nolan’s newest project Inception has already begun shooting in England with a metric ton of Hollywood talent, including Leonardo DiCaprio, Ellen Page, Ken Watanabe, Marion Cotillard, Joseph Gordon Levitt, Tom Hardy, Cillian Murphy, Tom Berenger and Michael Caine. Described as a “contemporary sci-fi actioner set within the architecture of the mind”, not much else is known about the story (penned by Nolan himself), but it certainly has all the right ingredients to become a critical success.
I suspect most moviegoers either knew Nolan’s work before Batman Begins or learned shortly afterwards, but just in case some of you haven’t already, be sure to check out Nolan’s past efforts, including his indie debut Following, the neo-noir mindbender Memento, the remake of the Norwegian film Insomnia and the dark examination of rivalry The Prestige. In the meantime, we’ll just have to wait and see what surprises Nolan has in store with Inception. And of course, we can only hope for a third installment in the revitalized Batman franchise, right?
