Ever since Blu-ray was introduced, there have been certain films that high-def aficionados have been clamoring for, one of the most-awaited being Peter Jackson’s Lord of the Rings trilogy. While the trilogy has been available for pre-order for some time now, today we have our first look at the 7-disc Blu-ray box set which includes the theatrical cuts of The Fellowship of the Ring, The Two Towers and Return of the King.

Now, if you’re like me, you might be holding out for the extended editions to hit Blu-ray, but at this point, there’s been no news from New Line on when that might happen. So would you spring for this set for the chance to see one of the most epic film trilogies in 1080p high definition? What other classic film trilogies/series are you looking forward to on Blu-ray?
