LEGO Rock Band makes music for the whole family

LEGO and Rock Band games combine like Voltron to make something awesome. We hope.

A combination of two wildly different genres are coming together as Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment and TT Games, publishers of the family-friendly LEGO games and Harmonix and MTV, publishers of the Rock Band music games, join forces to give us LEGO Rock Band for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, Nintendo Wii and DS this holiday season.

The idea is to bring a new experience to the Rock Band franchise that’s geared for younger gamers with the LEGO franchise’s special brand of humor and presentation as well as more suitable, indelible hits like:

  • Blur “Song 2″
  • Carl Douglas “Kung Fu Fighting”
  • Europe “The Final Countdown”
  • Good Charlotte “Boys and Girls”
  • Pink “So What”

Maybe those aren’t quite your bag, but another key element to LEGO Rock Band (much like the previous LEGO games) will be the level of customization available, allowing gamers to build a unique band of their own. According to the developers, LEGO Rock Band will also be compatible with all existing Rock Band-compatible instruments, so that should provide a significant incentive to check it out.

What do you think? Can the light-hearted LEGO approach vibe with the Rock Band stage presence or not? Are these two franchises made for each other?
