If you’ve been following the unbelievable wave of hype that’s building for James Cameron’s upcoming Avatar, then you’d know that this week is the first chance that the public will get a glimpse of the $250 million epic that Cameron has been constructing, nay, inventing for the last four years. Yesterday, free tickets were available online for the August 21st event 20th Century Fox has deemed “Avatar Day”, on which theaters around the world will be holding a one-time screening of an exclusive preview of the upcoming film in full 3D (and IMAX, where available).

Quite the bold move for a major Hollywood studio, but confidence is obviously high for Avatar and having Cameron behind the wheel again after a 12-year hiatus could be just what audiences have been waiting for. Even if you didn’t get Avatar Day tickets (check here for availability), Fox will be releasing the first teaser trailer for the film online and in theaters this week as well. In all, look forward to a lot of Avatar buzz after this week as we head toward the December 18th release date.
